Seaweed/Tang and Thyroid

Luckily for us, seaweed/tang contains a healthy amount of iodine, which is essential for optimal thyroid function. Seaweed/tang actually contains the highest amount of iodine compared to any other food source. It may grow all over the world, but the seaweed/tang from Lofoten grows in some of the purist (and coldest!) waters on earth.
The amount of iodine in seaweed/tang depends on the type, growing conditions and cooking methods. The amount of iodine can be altered by different cooking methods.
